Something not working, or something missing? Write to soporte@predit.com.py. We answer every email.
If you are writing about a file that will not open, tell us which camera shot it and in which format: with that one detail we can usually answer on the first reply.
What it works with
- iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
- iPhone only: there is no iPad version for now, and the app does not show up on the Mac.
- Predit is bought once. There is no subscription, no accounts and no in-app purchases.
An MXF file from my Sony will not open
This is the most frequent case, and it is almost always the same one: the clip was recorded in XAVC-I, which no iPhone can decode. It is not a limitation of Predit — it is the phone's video chip, and that is why no iPhone app can open them.
You have two ways out, both without a computer:
- Change the format on the camera to XAVC-L and shoot again. The FX6 ships in XAVC-I, so if you never touched that setting, this is it.
- Use the proxy. If you had proxy recording turned on, the camera saved a light MP4 of the same clip alongside it. That one opens fine.
MXF files in XAVC-L do open: Predit rewraps them to MP4 without recompressing, so you lose no quality, and it rescues the gyroscope data stored inside the file.
Stabilization corrects nothing, or corrects too much
Predit straightens the clip using what your camera's gyroscope measured, but to turn that measurement into movement on screen it needs to know how wide the lens's field of view is. Some cameras do not store it in the file, and there Predit has no way to guess it.
When that happens the manual lens field appears, in millimeters. If the correction falls short, raise the horizontal field; if it overshoots and the clip ends up shaking the other way, lower it. The three-axis graph right below it is your guide: with the camera held still, all three lines should be flat.
The LUT library is empty
That is on purpose: Predit ships with no LUTs. You add your own in
.cube format with the + .cube button, and once loaded they
stay in your library for every project.
If you do not shoot in log, you do not need any: the whole app works without ever touching that tab.
My phone's storage filled up
When you import a video, Predit keeps its own copy of the file so that reopening the project does not mean hunting for it again. Those copies are what take up the space.
In the project tab you can see how much they are using, and two
buttons: clean up what is unused, which deletes the copies of projects
that no longer exist, and free up this cut, for when you have already
exported and will not reopen it.
I lost a project
The cut saves itself while you edit, and you can keep several, each with a name. If the app closed on its own, it offers to pick up where you left off when you reopen it.
What cannot be recovered is what was deleted when the app was uninstalled: since everything lives on your phone and there is no cloud, iOS deletes Predit's storage along with the app. That is why it is worth exporting the MP4 before uninstalling.
I want to request a feature or report a bug
Write to soporte@predit.com.py. If it is a bug, tell us which iPhone model you have, which version of iOS, and what you were doing when it happened.
